Two babies were saved from a burning building today. Jermaine Shirley, a postal worker said he smelled fire when leaving his apartment at 7 a.m. He warned everyone to evacuate but the people from the 3rd floor couldn't get out. Someone from the apartment building remembered that there was a family on the third floor, and they had to toss the babies out of the window where a crew of people would catch the babies. The crew of people were on top of a shed next to be building. The firefighters think that it was an accidental fire caused by power cords. Only 3 people have minor injuries from the fire.  

Car accident

In Texas, 4 teens were killed in a car accident. Ethan Couch, 16, went to a party and got drunk. His blood alcohol measured to be .24. The police said that Ethan was going about 70 mph in a 40 mph. Ethan killed 4 people, Holly and Shelby Boils, Brianna Mitchell and Brian Jennings. They were all pulled over help out Brianna Mitchell out with her flat tire. He was charged with 4 counts of intoxicated manslaughter. The police are saying that it was his parents fault because his parents didn't raise him well. They said that he started drinking at a young age, and letting him drive at the age of 13. Ethan isn't going to jail or prison, he is going to be taken away from his parents and going to rehab in California. They think that taking him away from his family will help out with everything.

Paul Walker

On Saturday, November 30, 2013, Paul Walker died, 40. He was in the Fast and Furious movies. Walker was on his way to his charity for the people that had just gone through the typhoon in the Philippines. Walker was about 30 miles away from Hollywood. Walker was in the passenger seat of his car, he was with his racing partner and they had hit a light pole and the car blew up into flames. Walker and his racing partner were pronounced dead at the seen. Paul and his racing partner were in Paul's car. It was a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. After the crash, the only thing that was left was the burnt up car. The police think that speed took part in the crash. There are tire marks on the road. They think that he was going too fast for the space that they were in and they think that things got out of control really fast and either of them could of helped save the accident from happening.

Smoking on that Crack

Toronto's mayors, Rob Ford admits so smoking crack. Ford says that he has doesn't plan on doing it again. He does admit for smoking crack last year. He says that the new reporters are all the same and that they are antagonizing him about smoking. He says that yes he does drink, no he is not an alcoholic, yes he has smoked before but he does not plan on doing it again. He says that he doesn't want people to think of him different because it was a while ago and things have changed now. A news reporter asks him what about his kids. Ford says that one day they will hear about this and he will say what happened. He doesn't want to be that parent that just walks away from their family when they ask about something. He says that if they ask he will tell them the truth. Ford is trying not to get dropped  down from being a mayor but as far as we know he is just trying not to get moved down.

Lightin' Up

Sunday, November 10th, 2013 the Europe Music Awards happened in Amsterdam, Netherlands. After singing the song Wrecking Ball, Miley Cyrus was speaking for the award that she had won before she started to speak, she pulled out of her purse a joint. In Amsterdam she pulled out her purse a joint and smoked it on stage. Later that night she tweeted, "Stay in school & Be kind. Other than that HAVE FUN." In America award shows are very popular, MTV decided not to put the clip of Miley smoking on stage. They thought that it would be too inappropriate. People are saying that someone is going to press charges against her for smoking.

Boston Red Sox

Boston Red Sox baseball team is inviting people from the Boston Marathon bombing to come to the games. They are letting people pitch and do activities with the team. Heather Abbott was running in the marathon and lost apart of her leg. She was just left the hospital and was on her way to the baseball field and she got to through the first pitch. Abbott soon got a prosthetic leg and is not running and walking. The Sox had lost 93 games and then they ended up being the 2013 world series champions. Within 6 months Boston experienced a bombing, where people were very injured to winning the world series and having the baseball team help out everything with the bombing.

Chris Brown

On Saturday, October 26, 2013 Chris Brown was preforming at a night club in Washington. On Sunday, October 27, 2013, after the show, a fan tried to get a picture with Brown. A man by the name of Isaac Parker tried to get into the picture with Brown and the girl. Brown and his body guard punched Parker in the face. An eye witness said that he didn't see Parker get punched but he did see him bleeding a lot from the nose. Before punching Parker in the face, Chris said, "I'm not down with that gay (expletive)" and "I feel like boxing" In 2009, when Brown beat Rihanna, Brown was charged with a felony with domestic violence. Also a women said that Brown was driving behind her and that he went ballistic, by rear ending her. Brown was given an additional thousand hours of committee service. With the insistent that happened on Sunday morning, Chris Brown is charged with a felony assault.

White House Official Tweeting

Jofi Joseph was fired last week, using a fake twitter name, @natesecwonk. He had been telling things that shouldn't of been out in public. He has been saying things since February 2011. Last week the twitter got deactivated. Joseph had worked for the State Department and on Capitol Hill for Senators, Bob Casey and Joe Biden, also he had recently been working with the administrations team, working on things or Iran. On his fake twitter account he had criticized his White House bosses and he had insulted a various amount of people on the White House staff.

Bullying Death

On Monday, October 14, 2013, two girls, 12 and 14 were arrested for Aggravating Stalking a 12 year-old, Tricia Norman, so much that she killed herself. The 2 girls bullied her in school, through the internet and one time it was a physical fight. The Tricia Norman was dating 14 year-old, old boy friend. The police weren't going to arrest the girls until they saw a post on Facebook, from the 14 saying, "Yes ik i bullied REBECCA nd she killed herself but IDGAF <3" Because it was on the 14 year old's Facebook account, they let the 12 year-old, who bullied too go home with her parents but the 14 year-old is still in custody with the police. The police found all of the messages between Rebecca and Tricia. Some of the messages were to Tricia, saying, "Why don't you go kill yourself?", "You should die" and multiple more messages.

Airplane security

On Monday, a nine-year-old in the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Air Port, got through 3 levels of security with no plane ticket and went on the plane to Las Vegas. After he got through all of security he went onto the plane and there was an open seat. After the plane took off the flight attendants had been suspicious and called the Las Vegas police and took him into custody. Because he is a minor they are not telling anything that they do know, but they do not know how he got past the ticket agent. The ticket agent said he/she had checked everyone'e ticket. Delta airlines said that they are going to try and find more information and that they are taking this very seriously.

73 Rescued

73 people were rescued from a house, all 73 people had been kidnapped. The house that the people were in was in the northern part of Mexico in a town called, Reynosa. The people had been kidnapped from the  local bus stops. The police said that about half of them were from central America, they were taking the bus to America. 37 of them were Mexicans, 19 of the people were Hondurans, 14 of them were Guatemalans, and 3 of them were Salvadorans. The longest that some of the people were held hostage was 4 months, but only some people were in there for 4 days. The police saw 2 men in a car that pulled up to house When the police were approaching the house that they had been held in they said that they could hear people scream for help. When the police were talking to the people and asking them questions they said that most, if not all of them were sexually assaulted or rapped. When the kidnappers kidnapped the people they called their families and they were demanding money for them to get released from the house. Most the of people that had been kidnapped ended up going into the hospital.

Typhoon Usagi

Typhoon Usagi hit southern China, the Philippians and southern Twain, on Sunday the 22nd. This typhoon started with huge gusts of wind and rain and then all the wind just kept on getting stronger and the rain got worse. The wind speeds got up to 100 miles per hour. This typhoon damaged almost everything. This typhoon stopped hundreds of flights, thousands of people moved away from their homes, about 226,000 people moved to Guangdong also it knocked out all of the water and power in the Philippians, southern Twain and in southern China. About 7,100 homes were ruined. About 11 people were killed in the Philippians, and in China 25 people were killed.

Killing In Santa Ana

Marilyn Edge was found guilty for a double homicide. She killed her two children. 10-year-old Faith and 13-year-old Jaileen he drove her car into an electric box in Costa Mesa, CA. where the children were because she said that they were there when she went to court for the children with her ex husband. He ended up getting custody of both children. They had to be in Marrietta, Georgia  by 12 on Sunday. On Saturday she had put poison in the kids food and then after their meal they went into the pool and they had supposeivlyl drowned in the pool but Marilyn's ex husband, Mark Edge's attorney said that she thought that they had already been dead before they went into the pool, as if she would of put them into the pool. When the police came to her when she tried to run her car into an electrical box, other Santa Ana police went to go check on the kids and they were both found dead. On Tuesday she is supposed to be going to court. Mark is in the hospital because of the emotional distress that he has from the children's death.

Fires in California

In the ending of August there was a huge fire in California. This fire is the third biggest fire ever recorded in California. The fire took place in Yosemite National Park, they called this fire the Rim Fire. A hunter was hunting the Yosemite National Park and they were illegally starting a fire, the fire had gotten out of control, it ended up spreading across 246,350 acres of land. The fire started August 17, 2013 and lasted for 5 days after that. No one had died from this fire but 111 buildings have been burnt down, 6 people have been injured in this fire and about 2,000 homes have been destroyed. The fire fighters in California have about 80% of the fire taken care of and they have put it out.

                                                                        Diana Nyad

                     This was a very important day in history because Diana Nyad made history. She swam from Cuba to Florida. She made history because she swam Cuba to Florida because without being in a shark cage and because she swam 110 miles. She was also 64 years old. She came across the shore line in Key West around 2 p.m. She swam 53 hours, straight. She was the 5th person that tried to swim from shore to shore. She was the only one to finish it. One of the nights that she was swimming her head lights went out one night when she was swimming and Diana said that it was very cold, throughout the that night. Her tongue and lips by the end of the night because of the sun and saltwater. When she was swimming through the water she had to where a mask for some of it because she didn't want to get stung by a jelly fish. Other people had tried that before but one person got stung by a jelly fish too badly and she had to stop swimming because it was so bad. She said that she was so thankful for the boats that went with her through out her whole swim.
